Prineville man jailed on rape, sex abuse charges
A 70-year-old Prineville man was arrested Tuesday on 11 rape, sodomy and sex abuse charges involving a single female victim, police said Tuesday.
A police officer arrested James D. Cotterrell shortly after 10 a.m. on 11 first-degree charges, five each of sodomy and sex abuse and one of rape. He was lodged in the Crook County Jail on $550,000 bail, said Police Chief Eric Bush.
Bush said Cotterrell’sarrest stemmed from a month-long investigation by Prineville police after the female victim came forward and reported years of abuse. Other details were withheld to protect the alleged victim’s privacy.
