Central Oregon will start the new workweek warm and mostly dry before temperatures trend noticeably cooler later this week, with rain chances returning Thursday night and Friday.

Mostly clear skies are expected Sunday night across Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville, with lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Areas closer to the Cascades, including Sisters, Sunriver and La Pine, will generally fall into the mid 40s to mid 50s.

Monday will bring another warm day across Central Oregon. Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville will start sunny before becoming partly cloudy, with highs reaching the lower to mid 80s. Along the east slopes of the Cascades, highs will generally reach the 70s, with upper 70s to lower 80s in the valleys.

A cooldown begins Tuesday. Highs across Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville will fall into the mid to upper 70s. Areas closer to the Cascades will generally reach the lower 60s to lower 70s, with lower to mid 70s in the valleys.

Cooler conditions continue Wednesday and Thursday. Highs across much of Central Oregon will generally range from the upper 60s to mid 70s, while areas closer to the Cascades will be cooler.

The next chance for rain arrives late in the week. The National Weather Service forecasts a 50% chance of rain showers Thursday night and Friday across Central Oregon and the east slopes of the Cascades.

Temperatures continue trending downward into the weekend. Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville are forecast to see highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows falling into the mid 30s to lower 40s. Near the Cascades, highs are forecast in the upper 40s to upper 50s with lows in the 30s.

The cooldown comes as the seasons officially change, with astronomical fall beginning Tuesday.
