Transient arrested in Redmond drug raid
A Redmond transient was arrested during a drug raid at a residence in southwest Redmond early Monday morning, and while police said no substantial quantities of drugs were found, there was enough evidence to arrest him on several charges.
Redmond police patrol officers and detectives from the agency’s Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant around 1 a.m. at a secondary residence accessed by an alley behind a property at 224 SW Seventh St., just one block away from police headquarters, said Sgt. Curtis Chambers.
The raid culminated a several-week investigation into drug sales occurring at the home, Chambers said.
Transient Cedric Dashum Hunt, 36, formerly from Sacramento, Calif., was arrested at the residence, where Chambers said police found evidence of drug deals and drug possession.
Hunt was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on five charges, including methamphetamine and marijuana possession and meth delivery within 1,000 feet of a school, as well as frequenting a place where drugs are used. Bail was set at $50,000, according to jail records.
The Redmond Police Street Crimes Unit is a grant-funded team of patrol officers and detectives who work extra shifts, with a primary focus to target drug-endangered children and remove them from homes where drug use, manufacture and distribution is occurring. They also target street-level drug dealers and recover stolen property, Chambers said.
