Oregon State Police to take online applications

KTVZ

Oregon State Police is preparing to hire for several recruit trooper positions starting Thursday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m., when the department will begin accepting applications using the State of Oregon’s E-Recruit electronic application system.

OSP Superintendent Richard Evans announced the hiring effort nearly one year after the Department’s last recruit class was sworn in and a statewide hiring freeze was implemented in January 2012. The recruitment is necessary because many long-time troopers have retired over the last few years.

“Our department is excited for the opportunity to hire individuals looking to start their career in law enforcement or interested in working for an agency such as the Oregon State Police. If you are motivated and committed to serving the public with the highest degree of integrity, we encourage you to apply with OSP,” said Evans.

The Department’s first use of the State of Oregon’s E-recruit electronic application system proved very successful in October 2011 when the goal of 800 applicants was exceeded in just six hours.

Because of how quickly the application goal was reached the first time OSP used the E-recruit electronic application system, Evans said persons interested in applying should start the process now by going to the Oregon State Police recruiting website at www.osptrooper.com to learn about what it takes to successfully apply.

Those who believe this is the opportunity they have been looking for can create an account to start building a profile, but please follow the instructions detailed on the website to apply. The complete application for employment will be comprised of the E-Recruit profile, the supplemental questionnaire, and any required attachments.

If you truly desire a position with the Oregon State Police, it takes discipline and preparation. Our best advice is to visit our website, complete your on-line profile, and begin training to the highest possible level you can achieve even if that surpasses the printed recruitment standards.

The Oregon State Police is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages women and minorities to apply. If you are interested in a challenging career that will provide you with a lifetime of memories, then consider applying with the Oregon State Police. Information about our agency, the different opportunities that are available, how our hiring process works, and updates to our hiring process can be found at www.osptrooper.com.

Questions about the application process can be directed to the OSP Recruitment Unit at (503) 378-4175.
