Tumalo Falls road set to reopen

KTVZ

Beginning Saturday morning, the Deschutes National Forest will lift a public closure of the road to Tumalo Falls, officials said Thursday.

Forest Service Road 4603 (Tumalo Falls Road) from the intersection of Forest Service Road 4601 (Skyliners Road) to the Tumalo Falls Trailhead will be reopened. The opening of the road will allow access to the Tumalo Falls Day Use Area and all trails in the area.

The closure, originally put in place to allow the City of Bend to replace a water line for the Bend Surface Water Project, will be lifted at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, October 27.

The U.S. District Court in Eugene ruled to grant a preliminary injunction of the water line replacement project last week. The ruling caused all activities on the replacement waterline to end, which eliminates the need for a closure of the area.

The city of Bend and contractors will be removing equipment and materials from the area through Friday. The public is asked to remain out of the area until the closure is officially lifted on Saturday morning.
