Bend PD: Medford jail escapee has local ties

Bend police advised the public Tuesday to be on the lookout for a Jackson County Jail escapee who has ties to the area.

Corrections deputies were alerted around 10 p.m. Monday that Bradley William Monical, 42, had escaped through the recreation yard on the top floor of the Medford jail.

They said Monical was a state prisoner being held at the county jail to face local charges stemming from a 2011 robbery.

Bend police Lt. Chris Carney said Monical “has ties to the Bend area,” though he declined to be more specific.

Carney urged anyone who sees Monical “to please not attempt to make contact and call local law enforcement as soon as possible.”

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies had numerous investigators working the case, assisted by K-9 units in the search, and have contacted the FBI to assist in the investigation, Inmates housed in the same area also are being questioned, they said,

“Monical is considered a threat to the community,” the sheriff’s office announcement said. “If you see him, call 911 immediately.”
