Bend family has first New Year’s Day baby

KTVZ

One local family celebrated the new year in an extra-special way. The Beglau family of Bend welcomed another addition Tuesday morning, and the first baby at St. Charles-Bend for 2013.

Alannas Aliviah Beglau was born at 2:12 a.m. Tuesday, happy and healthy at 7 pounds 15 ounces, and 21 inches long.

She is the first daughter for the Beglau family, who already have 3 -and 8-year-old boys.

Alannas’ mother says she was so excited to have a New Year’s baby, but thought she was going to have her closer to her Dec. 27 due date.

“Well, I actually thought she was going to be born before midnight,” said Shelley Beglau, Alannas’ mother. “I thought she was going to be born (Monday) evening.”

Alannas’ dad was in Ireland for her birth, but he was able to meet his new baby girl via Skype.
