Sunriver mud, grime make for good time

KTVZ

A chilly Sunday morning didn’t stop hundreds from enjoying some mud and icy water in Sunriver.

About 350 participants took part in the first “Mudslinger” race — a 1.5-mile race that’s impossible to come away clean from. People crawled through mud pits, climbed over obstacles and mastered a rope course.

Many finished caked in mud, then enjoyed a nice cold rinse, courtesy of the Sunriver Fire Department.

Afterward, an outdoor heater, a beer garden and food were available to celebrate all that hard work.

“My strategy was just to have fun and go through the mud and take it really tough, so I could just get through so I can get to the shower,” said 9-year-old participant Dylan Mann.

Sunriver resident Cathy Oles got festive in a costume complete with an Easter tutu.

“It was fun, especially over in the snow and the deep water, and the mud hills over there — it was great,” Oles said.
