Deschutes County names six admin finalists

Deschutes County announced Wednesday six candidates who will interview for the county administrator position on April 1 – 2.

The public is invited to meet the candidates at a reception which will be held on Monday, April 1, from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The reception will be held in the Barnes/Sawyer conference room on the first floor of the Deschutes Services Building located at 1300 NW Wall Street in Bend.

The county administrator is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the Board of County Commissioners.

The six candidates and a description of the last three positions they held, include:

Tom Anderson: Interim County Administrator, Deschutes County, Oregon; Community Development Director, Deschutes County, Oregon; Senior Management Analyst/Operations Manager, Community Development Department, Deschutes County, Oregon.

Gary Barth: Director of Business and Community Services, Clackamas County, Oregon; Vice President Private Banking, Sterling Savings Bank; Managing Partner and Co-Founder, Payment System Solutions.

James Bourey: Director of Corporate Development, Elliott Davis, LLC, Greenville, South Carolina; City Manager, City of Greenville, South Carolina; Chief Administrative Officer, County of El Dorado, California.

Robert Jean: Interim County Manager, San Juan County, Washington; City Manager, City of University Place, Washington; City Manager, City of Newcastle, Washington.

Richard Mays: City Manager, Cannon Beach, Oregon; City Administrator, City of Jefferson City, Missouri; City Manager, City of Collinsville, Illinois.

Steve Wheeler: County Administrator, Clackamas County, Oregon; Deputy County Administrator, Clackamas County, Oregon; City Manager, City of Tualatin, Oregon.
