Expanded Bend Walmart plans grand opening
Bend residents are invited to the expanded Walmart store, which unveils the changes Wednesday, May 1, at 20120 Pinebrook Blvd. The grand-opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
The expanded store brings approximately 80 additional jobs to the area and will provide Bend residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. Following the grand opening, the store will now be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 300 full and part-time associates, including approximately 80 additional jobs created by the expansion. Store manager Edward Camp began his Walmart career in 2006 at a store in Bonney Lake, Wash.
“We welcome the Bend community to come see the expanded store, especially the grocery area”, said Camp. “Not only do we have a large organic and gluten-free section, we also have an outdoor apparel section that will have many options for the adventurous life here in Bend.”
Community Organizations Benefit from Grand-Opening Grants
The store is continuing its support of the community by giving grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local organizations. Recipients include: Assistance League of Bend, Giving Plate, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department, Bend Search and Rescue, and Art Central.
“This is a wonderful time for the Bend location’s grand re-opening” said Tim Casey, Executive Director of the Bend-Area Chamber of Commerce. “Walmart is a valuable community partner and has helped many organizations and charities over the years.”
