Charity painting under way at Bend homeless shelter

KTVZ

With warm, dry weather upon us, the Seriously Great Painters of Webfoot Painting Co, have their eyes set on the exterior of their annual giveaway recipient – The Bethlehem Inn.

The Bethlehem Inn is Central Oregon’s only emergency shelter serving homeless families, men, and women of our community. The exterior surfaces of their three buildings have only received light touch up and partial painting over the last 15 years.

The work began last Friday, May 3 rd with Mike Accardo of Quality Interior Works and Mike Montgomery of Montgomery Builders taking on the replacement of 140-feet of fascia that was severely weathered and falling apart. Miller Lumber donated the 140-feet of new fascia and the Mike’s took care of the rest.

The project continues through this week with pressure washing and the initial prep work, then on Saturday, May 11 th Webfoot Painting’s entire team will hit the complex in a one-day painting makeover!

With the majority of the siding being vinyl, their efforts will be focused on the severely rusted metal railings and posts, about 50 front doors and door trim, the entrance of the Bethlehem Inn, and the neglected backside of their largest building where the fascia board was replaced.

This is Webfoot Painting’s 4 th Annual $5,000 Painting Charity Giveaway. Starting January 1 st of each year they begin collecting nominations for worthy recipients and then in March they meet to vote for the person or non-profit they feel is most deserving.

Everyone in the company gets a single vote as well as one vote per supporting sponsors. The supporting sponsors of this event are Sherwin Williams who donates all paint and materials, Press Pros who donates promotional flyers, ORSA Design who donates a free color consultation, Quality Interior Works and Montgomery Builders for donating carpentry work, Miller Lumber for donating building materials, and Brian Page Design.

“With over 30 nominations this year, all exceedingly worthy of this giveaway, it was incredible difficult to select a winner” says Webfoot co-owner Travis Ulrich. “In the end the voters were excited to be able to help out a large number of people over a single family.” All those involved are very proud to be able to help preserve their structures and provide a much needed facelift for the 1000 plus residents served by the Bethlehem Inn.

Webfoot Painting would like to thank all those that participated and submitted nominations. They would also like to remind everyone that did not win that next year will bring another opportunity, so they encourage those people to resubmit their nominations next January.
