Bend Fire Dept. offers ‘Camp Fire Axe’ for teens

Are you a young adult, ages 15 – 19, who is considering a career as a firefighter/paramedic?

Camp Fire Axe is waiting for you!

Dates: June 20 – 23, 2013

Location: Bend Fire Department Training Center

Cost: $200 per person

Camp Fire Axe is four days and nights of hands-on immersion into the world of today’s fire service. As a camper, you will be issued firefighting and other protective gear and learn how to rappel from a building, how to remove trapped victims from motor vehicle crashes, firefighting basics, medical skills, and many other topics essential for today’s fire service.

By the end of Camp Fire Axe, you will know without a doubt if this is the career for you. After four days and nights of classes and drills, you may find yourself on the path to a lifelong path of service to your community.

Representatives from Central Oregon Community College and Chemeketa Community College will be at Camp Fire Axe on June 23 with information on the Fire Science and Emergency Medical Technology programs.
