The Bend Police Department announced Wednesday the ability to follow the agency on Twitter @BendCityPolice.

Police departments around the world are using social media as a means of sharing information with their communities. Twitter provides a more immediate and efficient method of providing vital information to citizens.

Bend police plan to distribute up-to-date information regarding such incidents as emergencies, missing person cases, and traffic crashes. Press releases will continue to be issued.
