Bend Parks-Rec seeks 4th of July volunteers

KTVZ

Bend Park & Recreation District invites the public to celebrate the 4th of July by volunteering in our community’s biggest parade and holiday event – the 4th of July Pet Parade and Old Fashioned July 4th Festival. Just a little time from each volunteer goes a long way in helping present two of Bend’s longest running, free community events.

For the Pet Parade in downtown Bend, adult volunteers will support road closure barricade locations along the parade route. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Training is provided and most volunteers will get to watch the parade.

For the July 4th Festival in Drake Park, adult volunteers are needed to assist with various tasks including kayaking in the river to support the popular “Fish Fling” activity, helping monitor road closure locations surrounding the park, field monitor for helicopter landings and event clean-up.

Teen volunteers are needed to help several of the games in the park. Mid-day and afternoon shifts are available.

For more information or to volunteer, contact Kim Johnson, BPRD Volunteer Coordinator, p. (541) 706-6127 or kim@bendparksandrec.org.
