Four people were injured Saturday afternoon when a pickup driven by a 15-year-old boy left Highway 20 east of Hampton and rolled several times, Oregon State Police reported.

Around 1:20 p.m., a 2007 Toyota pickup driven by a 15-year old boy with a valid permit was heading east on Highway 20 near milepost 83, about 17 miles east of Hampton, troopers said.

The truck traveled off a portion of the highway, at which point the teen over-corrected and the pickup rolled several times before coming to rest on the highway, blocking both lanes, they said

Four people in the pickup first were taken to Harney District Hospital in Burns with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.

One of the passengers, Allison Butler, 41, residence info not available, was transferred by air ambulance to St. Charles-Bend. Front passenger Daniel Butler, 47, and a 9-year old girl also riding in the pickup were treated and released, troopers said. The 15-year old driver was being held overnight for observation.

The crash blocked the highway for a time, and ODOT remained on scene for road repairs, troopers said.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Hines Volunteer Fire Department, Harney EMS, and Harney County Sheriff’s Office.

No citations have been issued, troopers said. Trooper James King is the lead investigator.
