Pedestrian hurt in NE Bend crash

KTVZ

A 54-year-old transient was taken to St. Charles-Bend for treatment after he was struck by a car Friday night while crossing the street in northeast Bend, police said Monday.

Officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to the crash at NE Eighth Street and Greenwood Avenue, said Lt. Chris Carney.

An investigation found that Mark Dillow was crossing Greenwood just west of Eighth Street and just outside of the marked crosswalk, Carney said, adding that he was wearing dark clothing and reported to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The driver, Philip Turner, 70, of Bend, was heading west at the wheel of a tan 2002 Hyundai Sonata and said he did not see Dillow before the collision, the lieutenant said.

Dillow was taken to St. Charles-Bend with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed, Carney said.
