Deschutes permit system to be down for conversion
The Deschutes County Community Development Department conversion to the State electronic permitting system (Accela) will take place from 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 27 through the weekend.The new system is expected to be online Monday morning, September 30.
The new Accela system will offer residents a faster permitting process. The cities of Redmond and Sisters are also going online with the statewide system in the near future.
In order to facilitate the conversion process, CDD will be not be able to accept building, electrical, plumbing, septic, or land use permit applications or payments after 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27 through the weekend. Permits will also not be available online.
“I strongly encourage anyone planning to apply for a permit, to visit our office prior to noon on Friday, September 27 or on Monday morning, September 30. We will be open to the public Friday afternoon to provide information and to answer questions,” said CDD Director Nick Lelack.
In addition, inspections on Monday, September 30, cannot be scheduled online or through the old permitting system. Inspections for this date will need to be recorded by staff, and then scheduled once the new software is in place.
Through the new permitting system, contractors will be able to apply for permits online, saving driving costs and valuable time. Tools within the system enable users to receive emails about the status of permits immediately upon inspection or, when they want to monitor what steps remain within the process.
CDD staff will be available to answer questions during the transition between software systems. The Community Development Department apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause residents of Deschutes County.
