A 43-year-old Redmond man and Deer Ridge Correctional Institution employee has been placed on unpaid administrative leave following his arrest on 10 sex abuse charges involving a teen girl, authorities said Friday.

Redmond police received a report Sept. 29 of alleged sexual assaults that occurred in and around the Redmond area last month involving Jon Michael Yeakey II and a juvenile in her teens, said Lt. Nathan Garibay.

Redmond detectives took over the investigation and arrested Yeakey on Tuesday. He was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail in Bend, where he remained held Friday on one count of first-degree rape, six counts of second-degree sexual abuse and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse. The jail record also lists two counts of sexual misconduct, but unlike the other pending charges, it says those charges have not been filed.

Bail was set at $300,000.

Detectives are still investigating the case and have forwarded their investigation to the county district attorney’s office for consideration of additional charges, Garibay said.

Anyone with information regarding the case was asked to contact Redmond police at (541) 504-3400.

Yeakey was placed on unpaid administrative leave on Wednesday, said state Department of Corrections spokeswoman Elizabeth Craig. He has been employed as an administrative specialist at the state prison near Madras, Craig said.

Craig said Yeakey transferred from the Oregon Youth Authority to the Department of Corrections in June of 2009 and worked as a mental health specialist until February 2011, when he became an administrative specialist, his current position.
