Big rigs thrill tiny tots in Tumalo
The hands behind the wheels of some pretty big machinery on Saturday were a lot smaller than you might expect.
But don’t worry, kids weren’t operating the equipment — only playing on it as part of the Knife River Complex’s “Big Rig Celebration.”
Hundreds of families came out to Tumalo to explore bulldozers, dump trucks, fire trucks and more, all while raising money for Together for Children, an organization giving parents the tools and skills to successfully raise their children.
“It’s just a great day for parents and grandparents to play together,” said Edie Jones, former executive director for Together for Children. “It really is based on families coming together and doing things together, and that’s what we do.”
Jones said the event was expected to raise about $3,000 for the organization.
