Highway 58 about six miles northwest of Highway 97 in northern Klamath County was closed for three hours Thursday night following a non-injury commercial truck crash, in which the driver swerved to avoid a deer, Oregon State Police reported.

Around 6 p.m., a 2006 Peterbuilt truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with food products driven by Abraham Alvarez, 46, of Baldwin Park, California, was westbound on Highway 58 near milepost 79, troopers said.

Alvazrez said he swerved to avoid a deer and lost control as the truck and trailer traveled off the westbound shoulder. Both truck and trailer rolled onto the right side, coming to rest blocking the highway.

Alvarez, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured, troopers said.

With the help of a local tow company, the truck and trailer were moved, allowing at least one lane to be open about 9 p.m.

OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT and the Crescent Rural Fire Protection District. Trooper Creed Cummings was lead investigator.
