A 45-year old Bend man is facing a DUII charge after a Friday night crash that resulted in minor injuries along Highway 97 about 17 miles south of Madras in Jefferson County, Oregon State Police reported.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., troopers said, a 1985 Toyota Camry driven by Damon Smith of Bend was traveling southbound in the northbound lane.

A 2012 Chevrolet four-door driven by Tracy Graybael, 51, from Warm Springs, was northbound and took evasive action to the right to avoid the oncoming Toyota. Both vehicles sideswiped as they passed one another.

Smith was taken by ambulance to St. Charles-Bend for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said. He was cited by OSP for DUII at the hospital where he was being treated.

Graybael and her passenger, Gloria Martinez, 44, of Republic, Washington, both had minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene, troopers said.

OSP was assisted at the scene by area emergency responding agencies. Senior Trooper Clint Prevett is the lead investigator.
