Pottery showcased at Bend event

KTVZ

The Clay Guild of the Cascades held their ninth annual Wildfire Pottery Showcase this weekend at Highland School in Bend.

The event showcased the artwork of potters from all over. There were various forms of pottery for sale, along with live demonstrations on hand-made pottery and a kids “clay area” to teach children as well.

Local potter Linda Heisserman explained to us why the guild has a purpose in Central Oregon.

“We hope that because of the Clay Guild of the Cascades, that we would have actually increased the visibility of pottery,” Heisserman said, “We made the guild so potters could meet and share and ultimately learn from each other.”

Heisserman also suggests those who are interested to join the Clay Guild of the Cascades. The group has monthly meetings which include workshops that allow local potters to practice their technique.
