Hwy. 20 traffic stop turns up pot; driver arrested

A Boise man was arrested Monday afternoon when an Oregon State Police trooper found nearly 12 pounds of marijuana hidden in his car during a traffic stop about 20 miles east of Bend, troopers said.

Around 2:45 p.m. Monday, a 2007 Hyundai Accent displaying Idaho license plates eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 21 for a speed violation. The trooper contacted the car’s driver, identified as Bradley Dewey Dean, 62.

An investigation during the traffic stop led the trooper to seize nearly 12 pounds of marijuana concealed inside the car, they said. Troopers estimated the value of the seized marijuana at $30,000.

Dean was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail on charges of marijuana possession and delivery. A Jail offer said he was released Wednesday after posting 10 percent of his $50,000 bail, pending another court appearance on Jan. 22.
