Breast cancer issues conference simulcast in Bend
Sara’s Project is presenting a simulcast of Susan G. Komen Oregon and SW Washington’s 16 th annual Breast Cancer Issues Conference on Saturday, March 1 at the St. Charles Bend Conference Center.
The conference runs from 8 to 3:30 p.m. and the $15 registration fee includes a light breakfast and lunch.
The conference will simulcast presentations covering topics including breast cancer risk reduction, treatment options and quality of life issues, as well as a chance to learn more about Central Oregon services for breast cancer.
Distinguished experts, including keynote speaker, Lisa Coussens, PhD, will cover all aspects of current breast cancer research and treatment. Coussens is the recipient of a prestigious Komen Promise Grant, dedicated to the rapid translation of scientific discoveries into new or enhanced treatments with the highest potential to reduce breast cancer incidence or mortality.
Her research is being conducted in Portland at OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute. Her topic is “Inflammation and Breast Cancer: Good Cells Behaving Badly.”
This is the first time the conference will be simulcast statewide, making it possible for more people to attend at St. Charles Bend and in other locations throughout the state.
