7-Eleven video rental leads to Bend burglary arrests

A Bend 7-Eleven surveillance camera’s record of a Redbox video purchase led to Sunday’s arrest of two men and a 15-year-old boy, accused of entering two open garages in the Larkspur neighborhood early Friday and stealing items from one garage and two parked cars, police said.

Officers said there are likely other victims in the area they want to hear from.

Police learned Friday of a burglary in the subdivision, said Sgt. Jason Maniscalco. They determined the thieves entered an open garage and stole items from a car parked inside.

The suspects used two stolen credit cards to buy Redbox movies at a 7-Eleven convenience store, Maniscalco said.

Police used video surveillance to identify the suspects as Christopher Carlos Ramirez, 33; William Charles Cheeks, 34; and a 15-year-old boy, all from Bend, the sergeant said.

During the investigation, police said they determined the trio entered another home’s open garage, taking items from the garage, as well as a car parked in it, he said.

Maniscalco said the three are “likely” to have entered other cars in the area of Brosterhous Road and American Lane between 12:30 and 3 a.m. Friday. If you believe your vehicles were unlawfully entered, you’re asked to contact Bend police.

Each of the three are charged with two counts each of first-degree burglary, unlawful entry into a vehicle, fraudulent use of a credit card and third-degree theft, as well as identity theft. The adults were lodged in the Deschutes County Jail, held on $82,000 bail.
