KPOV seeks pledge drive volunteers
KPOV 88.9 High Desert Community Radio is holding its spring membership pledge drive April 10 – 19.
KPOV is the only non-profit public radio station originating from Bend, broadcasting throughout Deschutes County and the Prineville area. KPOV is supported by listeners and local businesses and powered by volunteers.
KPOV is asking businesses and non-profit groups to volunteer to answer phones during the pledge drive.
Groups and businesses already scheduled include: The Environmental Center, Central Oregon PFLAG, Center for Car Donations, Social Justice Center, Jobs with Justice, Neighbor Impact, and local unions.
Call 541-322-0863 for more information or online at www.kpov.org.
The goal of the membership drive is to raise $21,000 to help support KPOV programming and operations throughout 2014. Along with thank you gifts at various member levels, KPOV will hold a daily prize drawing during on-air pledge breaks.
Gifts include literary journal subscriptions, hats, and travel mugs. Drawing prizes include kids bikes, gift cards, delicious treats and a surprise grand prize to be announced during the drive.
KPOV’s 70 volunteer DJs produce and play an eclectic mix of music in over 30 different music shows. They also produce and host seven home-grown talk and news shows, featuring Central Oregon guests discussing issues from local to global. KPOV also features several nationally syndicated programs, such as Democracy Now!, that no other station broadcasts in our area.
KPOV is a listener-supported, volunteer-powered, nonprofit community radio station that broadcasts at 88.9 FM and live on the web at kpov.org. High Desert Community Radio offers locally-produced programs not heard on any other radio stations in the area, including civic affairs, election coverage, and the most diverse music programming in Central Oregon.
