High Desert Chamber Music has been awarded a grant from the Herbert A. Templeton Foundation, in the amount of $4,000. This private foundation provides grants to organizations in the areas of education, social concerns, performing arts, and humanities operating within the State of Oregon.

“We are pleased to receive this award from the Herbert A. Templeton Foundation, and these funds will be used toward the expansion of our educational outreach programs,” tates Executive Director Isabelle Senger.

“Through our visits to local schools and private instruction we offer our Spotlight Chamber Players, we estimate serving over 500 students this past season. Foundation grants such as these allow us to continue increasing the exposure of our visiting artists to the young children of this region, and we take pride in knowing we are providing experiences that are exceptional and unique,” Senger added.

High Desert Chamber Music educational outreach efforts include providing students with direct contact to the visiting artists through performances and Q&A sessions at string orchestra classes. This has been a great and rare opportunity for students to interact with visiting professional musicians in an informal setting.

In addition, HDCM provides complimentary tickets to the performances for the string orchestra programs of several local Middle Schools and High Schools. In doing so, we hope to expose young children to the highest levels of music performance, and cultivate an interest that can lead to a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of the performing arts.

High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. HDCM presents a broad range of chamber groups, ranging from string duos to piano quintets. The upcoming seventh season will be announced in August, and tickets and more information will be available through High Desert Chamber Music by phone or online. http://www.highdesertchambermusic.com/
