KTVZ

A Bend man was arrested Monday night on theft and other charges, accused of trying to steal metal items on the Remington Ranch property in Powell Butte, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.

Around 8 p.m., deputies received information that someone was on the property possibly stealing various metal items, said Sgt. Dave Dethman.

Arriving deputies saw a man rummaging through items belonging to the ranch, then leaving on a four-wheeler pulling a small utility trailer.

Deputies contacted and arrested Virgil Redding, 48, and took him to the county jail in Prineville on charges of first-degree theft, criminal trespass and methamphetamine possession, Dethman said.

The four-wheeler and trailer with the ranch’s metal items were seized and taken to the county’s impound yard.

Because the county jail was full, Redding was released pending a July 9 th arraignment, jail officers said.
