A 32-year-old Prineville man was arrested Thursday night on charges he lured a female acquaintance to an unoccupied home and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police had investigated a Wednesday incident, saying Bobby Joe Sorg lured the adult female acquaintance into an unoccupied home in the 700 block of South Main Street and assaulted her, said Capt. Michael Boyd.

Detectives arrested Sorg around 9 p.m. Thursday and booked him into the Crook County Jail on charges of second- and third-degree sex abuse (a Class C felony and Class A misdemeanor, respectively) and unlawful sexual penetration, another Class A felony. He remained in jail Friday, held on $45,000 bail.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with more information was asked to contact the Prineville Police Department Investigations Division at (541) 447-4168.

In 2008, Sorg, then 25, was sentenced to nearly six years in prison in a 2007 Prineville child abuse case.

The convictions were on first-degree attempted unlawful sexual penetration, a Class B felony, and third-degree assault, a Class C felony. Several other charges were dropped in a plea agreement.

Sorg was arrested in November 2007 due to serious injuries to his then-girlfriend’s 2-year-old child that were consistent with sexual abuse.
