Bend Parks and Rec seeks youth soccer referees

KTVZ

The Bend Park and Recreation District is looking to hire referees for the 2014 Bend Unified Recreational Soccer League, a joint program with Bend FC Timbers.

Program participants are boys and girls, 1st through 8th grade. Referees are an essential part of the program. Potential applicants must enjoy working with youth and be able to create a positive and encouraging recreational environment.

Although prior referee experience is not required, all referees must have sound soccer knowledge, a clean criminal history background and pass a pre-employment drug test. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age. Pay rates vary from $10.00 to $27.00 per game depending on experience and the age level being officiated. All games are played on Saturdays running September 6th through October 25th.

Anyone interested must attend one of two mandatory trainings offered, Monday, August 25th or Tuesday, August 26th, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Bend Park and Recreation District Office, 799 SW Columbia St. For additional information, contact Rich Ekman, Sports Program Coordinator, p. (541) 706-6126, email: rich@bendparksandrec.org.
