Energy-savings project at Cascade Swim Center
This fall, the Cascade Swim Center is getting energy efficiency upgrades, and using the energy savings to help fund the project.
The project will upgrade equipment that was originally installed in 1978 with a more energy efficient boiler, a pool cover, HVAC improvements, pool pump motor, exterior doors and insulation on the ductwork and piping.
The upgrades to the systems will generate over $15,000 in annual energy savings, an 18% reduction on in utility costs for Cascade Swim Center.
The project will also receive an estimated $56,860 in utility incentives from the Energy Trust of Oregon.
The upgrades to the systems will also reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 93 metric tons, which is equivalent to removing 19 passenger cars from the road, or planting 76 acres of trees.
The projects will be taking place during the fall pool shutdown, and will be operating by the time we start back up in October.

Our project partner, Ameresco, will be guaranteeing the energy savings and equipment performance, and providing any construction cost savings back to Redmond Area Park and Recreation District. Ameresco and RAPRD have partnered with local contractors to install the measures, which helps keep money in our local economy.
