Wells Fargo donates $1,000 each to 10 C.O. schools

Wells Fargo dona ted $1,000 each to 10 elementary schools in Central Oregon. It will be up to each school to determine how to use the unrestric ted funds. The schools are loca ted in Bend, Culver, La Pine, Madras, Prineville and Redmond.

“This is a wonderful, out of the blue thing for us. Sometimes I feel like I need some help, and I just got some,” said one principal.

All of the recipients Wells Fargo selec ted are Title 1 schools, which means they have a high number or percentage of students from low-income families.

Wells Fargo Community Bank District Manager James Weber hos ted a recent grant presentation event, along with local Wells Fargo bank managers and other company executives.

Weber told the educators that Wells Fargo was donating the funds because of the company’s commitment to supporting its customers and communities.

“We believe when those two groups succeed, our company will also,” Weber said. “We realize one of the best ways to support our community’s success is to help our children succeed in school. Like you, we believe that quality education is the most important investment we can make for our future generations.”

Public education is one of the major focus areas of the company’s corporate philanthropy in Oregon. Nationally, Wells Fargo dona ted $275.5 million to 18,500 nonprofits and schools in 2013 and was the second most generous firm in America, according to The Chronicle of Philanthropy magazine. Wells Fargo was also the most generous bank in Oregon in 2013.
