Mt. Bachelor fans await snow, line up for passes
Mt. Bachelor season passes have been available for pickup for 11 days in the Old Mill. Tuesday was the last day, and the temporary office was packed all day long — just as a return of snow was in the forecast.
The ski resort has tentative plans to open the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
but as of Tuesday, there was only a little snow at the base of the mountain.
“Yeah, it seems like the last few years we’ve had that one big snow that’s got us open (by) our target day,” said resort spokesman Drew Jackson.
The resort staff won’t make a final call until just days before the planned opening.
But this week’s cold temperatures, followed by a threat – make that promise – of snowfall has everyone hoping all the “pray for snow” sales and events will pay off.
