Police shoot, kill fleeing K-Falls robbery suspect
Police in Klamath Falls exchanged gunfire with a fleeing grocery store robbery suspect Sunday night and the suspect was killed, Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge said.
Officers from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath Falls police and Oregon State Police pursued Lenny Miles, 34, who fled with cash stolen from Frontier Market, at the corner of Shasta Way and Summers Lane in Klamath Falls, Patridge said.
Miles was pronounced dead at Sky Lakes Medical Center at 9:41 p.m. No officers were injured from the gunfire, the DA said.
Miles had warrants out for his arrest that involved four separate cases in Klamath County, including: meth possession, third-degree escape, two counts of fourth-degree assault, strangulation and failure to register as a sex offender, authorities said.
Because officers from all three Klamath County Major Crime Team law enforcement agencies were involved in the shooting, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has agreed to lead the investigation, officials said.
The Klamath County Major Crime Team is comprised of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath Falls Police Department, Oregon State Police, Klamath County Community Corrections, and Klamath County District Attorney’s Office.
