KTVZ

This year, the La Pine Volunteer Firefighters Association is focusing their winter holiday and Christmas efforts by adopting several children and their families and helping them this Holiday and Christmas season.

The firefighters are using their own funds plus donations and by collecting books, puzzles or other educational materials, new warm winter clothes, and small unwrapped toys to achieve this goal.

The firefighters will help Santa deliver the gifts to 14 elementary school aged children and their families selected by the Bend La Pine School District’s Family Advocate Program that may need special assistance this holiday season on Saturday December 20 th and Sunday December 21 st .

On their visit, along with Santa, the firefighters will also assure each home has working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors before they leave.

The fire district and firefighters are also helping with the annual La Pine Community Christmas Basket Program as they have each year.

Donations and contributions to both efforts can be dropped off to any fire district fire station and/or administration office and the firefighters will get the donation to where it is dedicated to.

Donations have been received from private community members, Paulina Peak 4H Community Club, T&S Express O Awakening, La Pine Volunteer Firefighters Association and the International Association of Firefighters Local 3387.

In review of this year’s program today District Board President Doug Cox stated “The Fire District is extremely proud of all it’s firefighters – this holiday effort shows how they focus on contributions to our community that always make a difference in a meaningful way.”
