Redmond Airport offers holiday travel tips

KTVZ

The Redmond Airport is expecting many travelers over the upcoming holidays. The following reminders are to help passengers be prepared for their journey.

Do not wrap gifts prior to catching your flight. Transportation Security Admiration still enforces restrictions to carry-on items, liquids, gels and pastes must be in containers that are 3.4 ounces or less and all must fit in one quart size clear bag, one per passenger. Jams, jellies and peanut butter are examples of gels/pastes and need to go inside of checked luggage.

When traveling (carry-on or checked baggage) with battery-operated items that can generate heat or potentially produce spark, be sure to remove the batteries. Batteries must be packed in a manner to preventing a short circuit by putting them in a separate pouch with their terminals covered with tape.

Battery operated items may be accidentally triggered into an operational state as luggage is moved or shifts during flight. Electronics and valuable items should be in kept in your carry-on bag.

Allow plenty of time arriving to the airport for departure. Once passengers have a valid boarding pass and clear security screening, they can relax and enjoy fresh, quality, quickly prepared food and beverages from Avalon Aeropub.

Avalon Aeropub is located on the second floor of the boarding lounge. Avalon Aeropub is family-friendly; minors, however, are not permitted at the bar. Avalon Aeropub opens daily at 10:00 A.M. They offer breakfast items, sandwiches, soup, kid friendly selections, flatbread pizzas and daily specials as well as soft drinks, juice, tea, water, eight taps featuring local breweries, Oregon wines and a full bar.

Check with air carriers for current flight status information. The Airport’s website, www.flyrdm.com, provides links and contact information for air carriers, TSA and FAA websites where additional information can be found regarding what is allowed to travel in carry-on and checked baggage.

Please use caution traveling to the airport and be prepared for walking in winter conditions.
