Popular poodle purloined; police pursue prized ‘pet’

What happens when a four-legged friend is taken from a Bend home? Well, it’s probably not the type of friend you’re thinking of.

A popular poodle poached, right from its front yard. Where could it have possibly gone? Just who could have possibly taken this glowing hound? There’s only one way to find out.

On Friday, just six days away from Christmas, Jennifer Jennings and her kids Lincoln and Vivienne woke up to something missing.

“This morning, it was like, we pulled out and we were just on a rush, trying to get ready and get out the door to school and we’re like, ‘Oh great, the poodle is gone again,'” Jennings said.

It was the second time this popular light-up poodle named “Lyla” has been abducted from in front of their home.

“Our neighbors, when she’s not out have asked us, ‘Where is she? Where is she?'” Jennings said.

Like any other dog owner, Jennings took a call to action on social media to turn her kids’ frown upside down.

“I was mad that they took our poodle,” Lincoln Jennings said.

Oh where, oh where has their little Lyla gone? Oh where, oh where could she be?

Well, with the help of a friend and Bend police, who gave Jennings a tongue-in-cheek dog-at-large citation, Lyla was reunited with her family.

“We missed it when it was gone, and we just really want to say, um, thank you to the police,” Lincoln Jennings said.

In the end, she was found in Bend Senior High, taken by thieves unknown.

And the Jennings family can have a very Merry Christmas, but not before a message to the perpetrators.

“I’m OK with the rivalry thing, it’s always been there. But go to Home Depot, buy your own poodle and do it for your own stuff, so you know — it’s ours not theirs,” Jennings said.

You can’t really disagree with Jennings there. Even though Lyla is the cutest little pup, taking her from her home will get you on a certain VIP’s naughty list.
