Bend seeks bike-pedestrian count volunteers
The city of Bend is seeking volunteers to help with its annual bicycle and pedestrian count program. The city hopes to recruit at least 25 people to collect data for a two-hour period in January.
Counts will take place:
Noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, January 10 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, and
3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, January 15
The project is meant to document current levels of walking and biking, to help measure progress towards increasing the number of people who walk and bike, and to determine the need for additional investments in biking and walking infrastructure.
Information collected during the count will improve the quality and consistency of the City’s data. The count program follows a nationally recognized methodology. More information about the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project is available at www.bendoregon.gov/bikepedcount.
Volunteers count at the same locations four times per year. More opportunities to volunteer will be available in spring, summer and fall.
