BrightSide seeks MLK Day of Service volunteers

KTVZ

Bend’s Project Connect seeks volunteers for service projects on behalf of non-profits, including BrightSide Animal Center’s Thrift Store, on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 19th.

At our Thrift Store, 838 NW 5 th St. in Redmond (next to Grocery Outlet), we are looking for volunteers to help organize our storage area. We get many seasonal donations for all the major holidays and we struggle at keeping them organized and grouped by holiday.

Keeping our seasonal items organized makes it easier when a holiday approaches so we can get items to the sales floor quickly. The more we can sell, the more we can give back to the animals at the shelter — so it’s a very important activity for our store.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Please dress warmly, in layers, and wear gloves, as our warehouse storage area is not heated. To sign up, please visit http://getconnected.volunteerconnectnow.org/aam/general/need/?doc_id=1245&need_id=84417 or call the BrightSide Thrift Store at 541-504-0101.

BrightSide Animal Center, 501c3 non-profit, offers refuge, rehabilitation, and support services to more than 4,500 community animals each year, including 2,300 adoptable pets. We serve all of Central Oregon. Two in three animals are adopted outside of Redmond, with one in three animals adopted into Bend homes. The BrightSide Animal Center also provides low-cost spay and neutering, and microchipping, for pets of the people of Deschutes County. We depend on the support of the community and our wonderful volunteers to fulfill our high-save mission.
