KTVZ

Central Oregon’s iconic museum is offering free admission this Saturday, thanks to a generous sponsorship by Mid Oregon Credit Union.

“Family Free Day” is a rare opportunity to enjoy the amazing wildlife, artful exhibits and meaningful history offered at the High Desert Museum — at no cost.

“This is always a very fun and busy day for us,” said Dana Whitelaw, Executive Director of the High Desert Museum. “We have wildlife talks running continually throughout the day, as well as exhibit tours, hands-on activities for kids and many interesting historic characters to meet. And if you haven’t been to the museum lately, you’ll see we have two new exhibits, Brewing Culture: The Craft of Beer and Out on a Limb.”

Out on a Limb is a fun, indoor play area that encourages a love of nature. Kids will explore a treehouse, play with leaves blowing in the wind, and learn to appreciate the natural world.

The Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including the Rimrock Cafe and Silver Sage Trading Store. Note: Parking is limited! A free shuttle is offered from the Morning Star Christian School parking lot to the Museum and back all day. 19741 Baker Road.

The “Family Free Day” complimentary admission program supports the educational mission of Mid Oregon Credit Union by providing the community with the opportunity to explore wildlife and living history right in the heart of Central Oregon.
