Shauna Fowler search: Two weeks, more photos – no leads

KTVZ

Two weeks after a Powell Butte woman vanished, leaving behind her car, purse, cellphone and dogs, authorities released several more photos of Shauna Fowler on Thursday but said the latest extensive search had turned up no new leads to her whereabouts.

About 30 members of the Crook and Deschutes County sheriff’s search and rescue units took part in Wednesday’s search for clues, but “no new leads were developed,” said Crook County Undersheriff John Gautney.

Since Fowler disappeared late on Thursday, March 26, there have been searches involving search teams on foot, horseback and ATV, as well as trackers, while Civil Air Patrol and Oregon State Police also have conducted aerial searches for any sign of the woman, Gautney said.

“The search is now concentrating on other dimensions of the investigation that I am unable to release at this time,” Gautney told NewsChannel 21 Thursday evening.

A week earlier, Gautney said, “We are in constant contact with the family and will continue to follow up on tips as they come in.”

The sheriff’s office took the report March 27 that Fowler had been missing since about 11 p.m. the previous night.

Fowler’s mother, Valerie Smart, told NewsChannel 21 last week it’s very out of character for her daughter to drop from sight and had not happened before. She said her daughter was living in a travel trailer on the ranch property in Powell Butte and had been looking for a job.

“She left her purse here, her cellphone, her car, her dogs — she had nothing with her but the clothes she had on,” Smart said. She also said her daughter “is on social media every day” but has not posted since she disappeared.

“You don’t know what it’s like to have your kid gone, and not know where they’re at,” Smart said. “But we don’t know anything, and that’s the worst part about it, is we have absolutely no clues, whatsoever.”

Smart urged residents in the Powell Butte area to look around their properties for any signs of her daughter.

“The more eyes we have looking for her, the better off we’ll be — the better chance we’ll have of finding her,” Smart said.

Tears flowed as she added, “I just want her to come home. I don’t know where she’s at, and it’s killing me.”

Fowler is described as 5-foot-4 and 110 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes. She last was seen wearing tan corduroy pants, a light-colored shirt and black vest.

Anyone who has seen or heard from Fowler was asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 541-447-6398.

A friend created the “Help Find Shauna!” Facebook group, and Smart asked everyone to join the group and share it with everyone.
