A 36-year-old Central Oregon resident, wanted in connection with a weekend shooting incident in Redmond, has been arrested on methamphetamine delivery charges in Marion County, police said Tuesday

Around 9:25 p.m. last Saturday, Redmond officers were sent to the area of Southwest 11 th Street and Indian Avenue regarding an alleged dispute involving a gun and possible shots fired, said Sgt. Curtis Chambers.

Officers arrived and found there were no injuries, then began contacting witnesses and those involved, Chambers said.

They learned there had been a verbal dispute between one man and a small group of other men. During the argument, a gun allegedly was produced and used to assault a victim – and the gun discharged, the sergeant said. Another shot reportedly was fired toward the other men as they fled.

Police identified the suspect as David Alan Mills, and developed information indicating he left the Redmond area that night, possibly going to Salem.

On Monday, Marion County sheriff’s deputies located Mills in the Salem area and he was arrested on a drug crime that allegedly occurred in Marion County. He remained held Tuesday at the Marion Council Jail on methamphetamine delivery charges, with bail set at $500,000, according to jail records.

The Redmond case has been forwarded to the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office for a decision what charges should be filed, Chambers said.

Redmond police thanked Marion County sheriff’s deputies for their help in finding mills. Chambers noted Redmond police were assisted during the initial investigation by Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and Bend police.

Anyone who might have witnessed last Saturday night’s incident or has information is asked to contact Redmond police Detective Devin Lee at 541-693-6911.
