Bend Eagle Scout candidate plans Stevens Road cleanup

The Humane Society of Central Oregon volunteers regularly walk shelter dogs on the Oregon State property adjacent to the Bend shelter property. Recently, there has been an increase in littering, and illegal activities on the Stevens Road property that precipitated the Oregon Department of State Lands to limit access to the property.

A Bend Eagle Scout candidate Colin Burdsall, from Troop 18, has partnered with the Humane Society of Central Oregon to clean-up the trails and provide trail markers for his Eagle Scout project on Saturda.

Beginning at 9:00 am at the Humane Society of Central Oregon, Colin and the team he organized to assist in his Eagle Scout project will begin cleaning-up the trails and replacing trail markers on the 640 acre Stevens Road property.

The property is regularly used by the community and shelter volunteers as a walking and running area with and without a canine companion.

Colin is excited to organize a project that will benefit the community and the animals at the Humane Society of Central Oregon. The Eagle Scout project included securing donations from Miller Lumber and organizing a crew to assist him on the actual project day.

The Humane Society of Central Oregon obtained an access permit from the State of Oregon Department of State Lands for this project.
