Pair of fires burn RVs in Prineville area

KTVZ

Two RV fires reported a half-hour apart had Crook County Fire and Rescue crews’ hands full late Thursday afternoon.

The first fire was reported just after 4 p.m. southeast of Prineville, on Juniper Canyon Road, but access was challenging due to a long access road to BLM lands, said Fire Marshal Casey Kump.

Once on scene, crews quickly extinguished what was left of the trailer, but there wasn’t much.

The second fire call came 30 minutes later, just northwest of Prineville, off Lamonta Road, Kump said.

Crews arrived to find smoke pouring from a motorhome. They again were able to quickly put out the fire, but there was substantial damage to the interior.

Four engines, two ambulances and a water tender responded to the calls, with a total of 15 firefighters.

Kump said there were no injuries at either location, and the causes of both fires were under investigation. The two are not believed to be connected, except in terms of timing, he said.
