Police: Body of missing Bend man found
The body of a 46-year-old Bend man missing for two weeks was found Saturday evening on Bend’s south end, police said Sunday.
“There is no suspicion of foul play” in regards to the death of Thomas Anthony “Tony” Starr, said police Lt. Clint Burleigh.
The family has been notified and the investigation is no longer ongoing, Burleigh added.
Starr’s body was found two days after police turned to the public for tips or any leads to find Starr.
Friends and family had contacted Bend police on May 13 to report that he had not been in touch with them for four days, Burleigh said Thursday.
On Thursday, they notified detectives they still had not heard from Starr, which Burleigh said was ” a variation from his normal routines.”
Detectives with the Central Oregon Major Crimes Team were working with police to try to find and check the welfare of Starr. Burleigh said the unusual step was taken because that team was in Bend training on Thursday, not due to any indications that foul play was involved in Starr’s disappearance.
Burleigh said Starr was a transient who has stayed in several locations around the city.
