Masked gunman holds up SE Bend coins-jewelry shop

KTVZ

A masked gunman held up a Bend coin and jewelry shop Friday morning and ran from the scene, prompting a police search of the area and the release of surveillance photos in hopes of catching him; a Crime Stoppers reward also is out.

The suspect entered Mountain High Coins and Collectibles at 185 Southeast Third Street at 10:28 a.m. and demanded “property,” said Lt. Clint Burleigh. There were two employees and several customers in the business at the time.

The robber displayed a dark-colored firearm during the robbery, Burleigh said, adding that “this is the best description we have on the weapon at this time.”

The suspect was described as a white male adult, 5-foot-8 to 5-10 tall, slender build with lighter-colored, possibly shoulder-length hair.

He was wearing dark pants, a dark sweatshirt with white and orange lettering spelling out “Oregon State” and apparently a dark-colored ski mask.

There were no shots fired or injuries reported.

“Based on the circumstances of this case, we advise the community to not approach anyone who they believe might match the suspect description,” Burleigh said.

If you see someone matching the description, you’re urged to call Deschutes County dispatchers at (541) 693-6911.
