‘Raft n’ Brew’ trips raise $5,800 for non-profits

Sun Country Tours raised almost $6,000 with its popular Raft n’ Brew whitewater rafting trips this season. The award-winning river outfitter partnered with local breweries to provide the weekly trips throughout the summer, which featured a Big Eddy Thriller whitewater rafting excursion, followed by a complimentary beer tasting, and donated half of all proceeds to various local non-profits.

“We can’t thank Sun Country Tours enough for their ongoing support,” said Leslie
Cogswell from Tour des Chutes, an annual cycling event that raises money for cancer research. “We are so grateful they chose us as a beneficiary of Raft n’ Brew. Tour des Chutes is about people joining together and having fun, and Sun Country Tours gives us all a good opportunity to experience that.”

Sun Country Tours partnered with Deschutes Brewery, GoodLife Brewing, Cascade
Lakes Brewing, Boneyard Beer, 10 Barrel Brewing and Three Creeks Brewing on the
Raft n’ Brew trips, and donations were made to: the Boys and Girls Club of Bend, Tour des Chutes, Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation, the Upper Deschutes
Watershed Council, Central Oregon Trail Alliance, Ten Friends, Oregon Adaptive Sports, the Bend Paddle Trail Alliance and the Deschutes River Conservancy.

“Raft n’ Brew combines the best of what Central Oregon really has to offer,” said Kate Mitchell, the Event Operations Coordinator for Deschutes Brewery, “including navigating thrilling rapids head-on with an enthusiastic guide, scenic views, damn tasty craft beer enjoyed with the very folks who brewed it, and support for an array of our amazing local nonprofits. There isn’t a better way to spend an afternoon in Central Oregon.”
