KTVZ

Two Idaho residents were killed Thursday night when their SUV left U.S. Highway 20 west of Burns and rolled several times, Oregon State Police reported.

Troopers received a report just after 8 p.m. of vehicle heading west at a high rate of speed with no headlights, said OSP Lt. Bill Fugate. Minutes later, the OSP learned the vehicle had crashed near milepost 114, about 15 miles west of Burns.

Troopers and emergency personnel arrived on scene to find a 2001 Chevy Tahoe had rolled several times, killing both occupants, Fugate said.

Preliminary information indicates the SUV occupied by Caleb Lynn, 22, and Danielle Shea, 42, both of Eagle, Idaho, had left the highway for unknown reasons. Both occupants were dead when first responders arrived, the lieutenant said.

It’s not yet clear who was driving the Tahoe, Fugate said. It’s believed neither occupant was wearing seat belts, and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

OSP was assisted on the scene by the Harney County Sheriff’s Office, Hines Fire Department, Harney EMS and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
