Rogue Community College bomb threat prompts evacuation, search
A bomb threat Monday morning prompted evacuation and search of Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, as well as a precautionary evacuation of the school’s two other campuses.
Word came first by Twitter that students and staff were urged to evacuate the Redwood Campus of RCC in Grants Pass shortly before 10:30 a.m., and a directive to evacuate the school’s two other campuses “as a precaution” came less than 10 minutes later.
Later, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said the alert system was used and the evacuation took place “quickly and smoothly.”
In a news release, it state local, state and federal partners were “working together to ensure that a thorough search of the campus is completed,” adding that they expect to be there “for some time” doing their investigation.
The reported threat came just hours after Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, 90 miles to the north, reopened its campus following last week’s mass shooting, though classes there won’t resume for another week.
