Economic development group honors McLane
House Republican Leader and District 55 Rep. Mike McLane (R-Powell Butte) was honored Monday along with Sen. Mark Hass as “Legislator of the Year” by the Oregon Economic Development Association.
The statewide non-profit organization works to support economic development professionals who are on Oregon’s front line in diversifying and expanding Oregon’s economy.
“It’s a great honor to receive this award with Senator Hass and to be recognized for what we were able to accomplish during this year’s legislative session,” said McLane, who was presented with the award by OEDA President Sarah Garrison.
“I’m grateful to the Oregon Economic Development Association and its members for their support and for their continued efforts to strengthen and expand our state’s economy. We must continue to work together to develop policies that will incentivize private sector growth and bring more family-wage jobs to Oregon.”
McLane was recognized for his commitment to advocating for pro-growth and innovative economic development polices during the 2015 Legislative Session, including the key role he played in drafting and securing passage ofSB 611.
The legislation established Oregon as a leader in digital technology and communications infrastructure and opened the door to millions of dollars in local investments by technology giants like Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Google. Since SB 611 was signed into law, communities around the state have secured hundreds of millions of dollars in new high-tech investments.
McLane has served as a member of the Oregon House since 2011 and as House Republican Leader since 2012. House District 55 includes portions of Deschutes, Crook, Jackson, Klamath and Lake Counties.
